Why travel with Karen Gros?

•  It is my greatest wish to share my passion for France combined with my passion for food and cooking.

•  What the independent traveler may save in dollars can be lost by time consuming logistics (researching neighborhoods and hotels, making reservations, ticket purchasing, getting oriented and finding your way), with the added cost of dampened spirits ~ a very real cost. My aim is to save you time and distress so that you may have more rewarding experiences each day, at a more leisurely pace.

•  In addition to saving you time and frustration, my goal is for you to have a richer, more deeply satisfying trip than you could if traveling on your own. If you are an independent traveler who enjoys having the autonomy to explore the way you wish, and yet have some activities to reconnect with others, as well as having a seasoned companion to guide you to the best of the best, then my trips are right for you.

•  Being fluent in French, I can assist you with many things, such as getting you into a local café to use the restroom in a pinch, reserving local events or taxis. Having local connections means that I am kept abrest of cutting-edge activities, and can provide you with experiences that you will not otherwise have access to.

•  I am a resourceful trip organizer and travel companion, and as such will be responsible for making all arrangement for accommodations and group activites. Although I do not purchase airline tickets, I will assist each traveler to find the best rate, and help to book tickets timed with other members of the group. (Please note that I am not a professionally licensed tour operator.)

•  Experience the culture in a more direct way. Rather than being a tourist in a hotel, I choose to offer my travelers the opportunity to be a local. In Paris, we stay in beautifully furnished apartments ~ you will love being able to shop at one of four open markets in the neighborhood ~ all within a few minutes walk from your apartment. You will get to know your local butcher, grocer, baker, pastry maker, and pharmacist ~ all part of the experience of living in Paris. In Provence, we stay in beautiful, high quality bed & breakfasts where we have intimacy with the owners, often dining at their “table d'hôtes” in the evening.

•  High-quality standards that reflect themselves in the smallest details, as well as in the bigger picture. I offer you my selective preferences that will expose you to the very best quality, a tribute that the French call “savoir vivre.”

•  It is my aspiration to make your stay in France the memory of a lifetime!
